HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man’s decomposing body was found on a freeway embankment in Hollywood early Monday morning, according to authorities.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the southbound 101 Freeway at Highland Avenue at around 1:20 a.m. The Los Angeles Fire Department had contacted the CHP, according to the agency.

The body was tucked between two concrete pillars on the right shoulder embankment just north of Mulholland Drive, a CHP representative told Patch.

Authorities are working to determine the man’s identity, how he died and how his body ended up along the freeway.
