WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels was one of the biggest names in all of professional wrestling during his day. The former wrestler is regarded by plenty of fans and wrestlers as being one of the greatest and most influential performers of all time. When rumors popped up of him joining the WWE Performance Center in some role last year, some fans were intrigued by the possibility. Despite not being officially named as an employee, photos and videos have proven that Michaels frequently visits the Performance Center. Michaels is known to be a close friend of NXT leader Triple H, and he has been hanging around the Performance Center in recent weeks. So what exactly has Michaels been doing down in Orlando with all of the young NXT hopefuls?
While doing an interview with Scott Fishman over on Channel Guide Magazine, Michaels commented on his current status with WWE, and more specifically, NXT. HBK stated that he has no real role or objective in NXT at the moment, preferring to watch and observe the young talent in Orlando, as well as offer bits of veteran advice to said talents. He spoke on the matter by stating: “I would clearly define my role if my role was clearly defined and knew what it was, but I don’t. That has sort of been the way I have been most of my life, most of my career. I just hang around so often that people just eventually are too afraid to tell me to leave.”
Michaels also went out of his way to praise Triple H, as well as Performance Center head coaches Matt Bloom and Sara Amato for their work during the interview. As for current NXT stars that Michaels enjoys watching, he cited Johnny Gargano, Roderick Strong, Aleister Black, Asuka, Ember Moon, Sanity, the Authors of Pain, Heavy Machinery, and the Velveteen Dream as performers who could be big in WWE one day. Shawn Michaels currently works for WWE in an ambassador role, and lives in San Antonio, Texas with his family. Michaels seems to be enjoying his current role in the Performance Center and trainees can definitely learn a lot from one of the best in the business.
