EDMOND, Okla. – Augustana wrestling remains at the No. 17 spot in the latest NCAA Division II Wrestling rankings released from the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Wednesday.
The Vikings’ accumulated 39 points, only three points behind Newberry (S.C.) who came in at the No. 16 spot. Augustana also had three wrestlers that earned individual rankings in their respective weight classes. TJ North (125 pounds) remains as the No. 1 spot, while Jeremiah Peterson (141 pounds) earned the No. 4 spot, and Jayd Docken (197 pounds) was selected at No. 5.
A junior from Elk Point, S.D., North remains at the No. 1 spot in the 125-pound rankings. North has remained undefeated against Division II competition, accumulating a 16-3 record. North went 2-0 last week defeating Shane Novak of MSU-Moorhead, and Taylor Curtis of SMSU, both by major decisions.
With a 10-2 record, Peterson makes his second mark in the national rankings remaining at the No. 4 spot at 141 pounds. The Canton, S.D. native finished 2-0 last week, defeating Philippe Walker of MSU-Moorhead with a 9-1 major decision, followed by a dominating 13-3 victory over SMSU’s Trent Butcher.
Docken remains as the No. 5 wrestler at 197 pounds. The Winner, S.D. native owns an 18-3 record on the year with his only Division II loss coming at the hands of No. 3 Kenny Breaux of Lindenwood. Docken had two impressive performances last week, taking down MSU-Moorhead’s Christopher Bascon behind a 14-3 major decision, and Ashton Bartlett of SMSU with a 16-2 win.

Augustana continues Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition hosting Minnesota State Thursday, Jan. 29. First match is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
