Rich Swann officially won’t be returning to WWE.
WWE posted a statement on their website today where they announced that the company and Swann have “mutually agreed to part ways.” They also wished him well in his future endeavors: “Rich Swann and WWE have mutually agreed to part ways as of today, February 15, 2018. WWE wishes Swann the best in all of his future endeavors.”
Swann was arrested in Gainesville, Florida on charges of domestic battery (touching or striking) and false imprisonment/kidnapping on December 10th following an incident with his wife, Vanarrah Riggs, who wrestles as Su Yung. Those charges were dismissed last month, with court records citing insufficient evidence to sustain a conviction as the reason for the dismissal.
The arrest report from the incident stated that Swann had gotten into an argument with Riggs after she performed at an indie show. The report alleged that Riggs got out of their vehicle due to fearing that the argument was going to escalate, and Swann grabbed her by the arm and around her neck, dragged her back to the car, and pushed her in as she screamed for help. Swann denied physically touching Riggs.
WWE’s zero-tolerance domestic violence policy called for Swann to be immediately suspended after the arrest, and he would have been immediately terminated if there had been a conviction.
