It looks like we could be seeing Adam Cole leaving TakeOver: New York as The New NXT Champion.
As previously reported, it was recently announced that Adam Cole will be facing Johnny Gargano in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match for the vacant NXT Title at TakeOver: New York. The match was made after Tommaso Ciampa relinquished The NXT Title due to his neck injury. Cole would win a Fatal 5-Way Match in the most recent episode of NXT TV over Ricochet, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle & NXT North American Champion The Velveteen Dream to earn the shot against Gargano, who was originally scheduled to face Ciampa at TakeOver.
According to a new advertisement for The NXT Live Event on Sunday, April 28th from The Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minnesota, a Champion vs. Champion Match between Adam Cole & The Velveteen Dream is scheduled to take place. It was also announced that this match is being advertised for The April 27th Live Event from Milwaukee. The ads were released to promote tickets going on sale this week.
Gargano has been rumored for a main roster call-up for weeks now, but those plans were put on hold due to the injury sustained by Tommaso Ciampa. It is likely that Cole will win The NXT Title at TakeOver and Gargano will go on to RAW or SmackDown LIVE.
