ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Olympic skier Bode Miller and his wife, Morgan, welcomed their son, born a mere four months following the death of their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline.
The baby boy — whose name has not yet been released — was born Friday Oct. 5 in the same place as his older sister, the Today show reported, just one month before what would have been “Emmy’s” second birthday.
The couple shared a photo of their baby with the Today show on Monday morning. The baby boy’s sweet fingers wrapped around his mother’s show that love will go on.
Her new baby son “filled her empty arms,” their midwife told Today. “This baby has provided something new. Joy, inspiration and hope.”
In an earlier interview with Toda, Morgan spoke of the raw emotions.
“Now we have the opportunity to love the new baby, not just for ourselves but for Emmy,” she said.
Emeline accidentally drowned in a backyard pool over the summer in Orange County. A fund in her honor and memory is being established by the Miller Family. Her untimely, accidental death remains fresh and painful in the Miller household, though the family is now working to share Child Drowning Prevention and Awareness at every given opportunity.
Recently, Morgan Miller shared an intimate family photo of herself, holding her infant daughter after the tragic drowning. The raw, yet beautiful image on Instagram is a snapshot of a mother’s broken heart, fighting to mend.
“I wish I could have one more day to hold you, but until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love,” she wrote on Instagram. “I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains. Every step we take forward is because of you and Levi. Your footprint will forever be left on this world. I love you, My baby girl.”
