After news broke on Tuesday that Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, her husband of two years, the internet’s collective heart seemingly broke as social media reactions poured in from around the world.
According to TMZ, which first reported the story, Jolie, 41, reportedly filed legal documents on Monday citing irreconcilable differences. The actress and humanitarian asked for physical custody of the six children she shared with Pitt, 52, whom she asked to be granted visitation rights.
The couple married in 2014 after first meeting on the set of their 2005 blockbuster hit, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, during the film’s production in 2003. Most recently, they starred together in the Jolie-directed drama By the Sea.
