Munster assistant coach Denis Leamy insists his side has plans to “nullify” the “special” Stormers fly-half Manie Libbok in the United Rugby Championship (URC) Grand Final.
Leamy’s team travel to Cape Town for the crunch clash with the defending champions at a sold-out DHL Stadium on Saturday on the back of an inspiring win over Leinster in the semi-final.
Munster are no stranger to DHL Stadium as they ended the Stormers‘ unbeaten streak at home in round 17 and will be looking to do the same again in the final.
If the Irish province are to down the Capetonians and claim the title they will have to find a way to reduce the influence of Libbok, who is the general of the Stormers side.
Dangerous Libbok
Leamy praised Libbok’s well-rounded skill set and underlined how difficult it makes him to defend. The defence coach admitted that Munster will be looking to shut him down with their framework.
“What a player! We’ve been watching him closely over the last while and he’s such a talent that boy,” Leamy said.
“You could just watch reels of him. Just his ability to pass, his kick-passing, he’s just world-class. He can put the ball through a low trajectory and put it through the air quickly.
“That’s really special and he’s such a special player is Libbok. He’s the type of player that we have to try and take time and space away from him.

“We will go back to our fundamentals and framework in terms of how we want to control the speed of the ball and how we nullify him in terms of how we defend together.
“It’s a huge task and he’s definitely a massive player for them. He’s a player we’ll try and curtail through our framework.”
It is all set for a brilliant battle in Cape Town with two teams in excellent form and both coming off positive wins in the semi-finals. Only one will walk away with URC glory on Saturday evening.
