EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Now that the hectic pool season has come to an end, East Brunswick is embarking on an improvement project at the Crystal Springs Waterpark.

On Monday, Council adopted an ordinance appropriating $450,000 from the Pool Utility Capital Improvement Fund for work at the waterpark.

The primary work will be the replacement of the water filtration system including design, purchase and construction, which would cost $380,000.

“At this point in time, we need to replace the water filtration system to ensure that the water is pure, clean and good for our swimmers,” Criscuolo said.

According to Criscuolo, the filtration system is beyond its useful life now.

“It’s smart business. We cannot afford for it to go down in the middle of the season when we rely on that utility to cover all the expenses,” he told Council.

The water park is run as a utility and it is funded by visitors.
