NORTHRIDGE, CA — Authorities identified a man who held police at bay for hours after barricading himself in Northridge Monday.

After an hours-long standoff in which a second person was briefly detained, police arrested 42-year-old Justin Hinton on suspicion of felony vandalism, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jeff Lee told Patch.

According to police, Hinton armed himself with a knife while shattering car windows in the area around Bahama Street near Nordhoff Street Monday morning. Officers were called to the 18900 block of Bahama Street at about 8 a.m. Monday, on a report of an armed suspect vandalizing windows.

The area was closed off as police searched for him and waited hours for him to surrender.
