SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The South Brunswick Board of Education held its reorganization meeting on Jan. 4.
Three BOE members who won their reelection– Raja Krishna, Smitha Raj and Mike Mitchell, were sworn into their three-year terms.
Lisa Rodgers was once again elected President. She was nominated by Barry Nathanson. This will be Rodgers’ second term as president.

“She has become maybe the most passionate president that I’ve ever seen. To watch her testify in front of the New Jersey Senate and Assembly is definitely an enjoyment,” Nathanson said.
“She continues to be a voice for the state in protesting all the cuts in public school funding that continue to haunt South Brunswick and many districts.”

Rodgers was elected president unanimously by fellow BOE members. She thanked the community and her colleagues for their continued support.
Meanwhile, Laura Hernandez was elected Vice President. She was nominated by Raj.
“We’ve had the good fortune of being on the same committee and I’ve seen her work very hard. She brings a lot to the table being an educator herself,” Raj said.
Hernandez was elected unanimously for the one-year term.
