LOS ANGELES, CA — Would-be armed robbers snuck up behind a man as he fumbled for his front-door keys in the Mid-Wilshire area only to find themselves fleeing under fire over the weekend. Now police are asking for help identifying the three suspects in the botched robbery.
The attempted robbery occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Plymouth Boulevard, where the victim was approaching his on front door, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The attempted robbery, which was captured on security cameras show two suspects approach the man from behind. One is carrying a handgun and he appears to press it against the victim while demanding his property. That’s when the victim reached for a concealed handgun. The robbers turned and fled, as the man fired on them and gave chase.

The suspect returned fire and fled in a dark-colored sedan driven by a third suspect, according to police. The second suspects ran in an opposite direction and escaped on foot.
The robbery victim was not injured in the shootout, and it was unclear if any of the robbers were struck with gunfire.

The gun-wielding suspect was described as a 5-foot-10-inch tall man in a black ski mask and black clothes. According to police, the second suspect was a 5-foot-9-inch-tall man also wearing a mask and a gray hoodie with a blue stripe running down the arm.
