Mercedes Mone will be in action at NJPW Resurgence.

NJPW officially announced Sunday that Mone will be in action at Resurgence in Long Beach, California at the Walter Pyramid next month on Sunday, May 21.

Mone announced the appearance herself in her post-show comments Sunday at Stardom All Star Grand Queendom, and NJPW has now made it official.

As we reported this weekend, Mone has signed a contract extension with Bushiroad, the parent company of both NJPW and Stardom. The length of the extension has not been reported.

Mone dropped the IWGP Women's Championship to Mayu Iwatani at Sunday's All Star Grand Queendom event in Yokohama.

Already announced for Resurgence is a semifinal bout in the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship number one contender's tournament, with Will Ospreay set to take on Hiroshi Tanahashi. That match is in doubt after Tanahashi suffered a rib injury at last weekend's Capital Collision show. Tanahashi has been pulled from NJPW's current Road to Wrestling Dontaku tour as he recovers.

The winner of the scheduled Tanahashi vs. Ospreya bout will advance to take on Lance Archer in the tournament finals at NJPW Dominion in Osaka on Sunday, June 4. The tournament victor will be crowned number one contender to Kenny Omega's IWGP US title, and is expected to challenge Omega for the belt at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in Toronto on Sunday, June 25.
