LEMONT, IL — Market on Canal, which is held once in the spring and once in the fall, will be held on Sunday in downtown Lemont.

Mabel’s Market and Three Stories Books owner Sommer Steele told Patch this is the sixth year of having the market on Canal Street.

“We actually started in 2017, by having an outdoor sale in our parking lot with a couple vendors and a cupcake truck,” she said.

Six years later, and the market has expanded to over 40 vendors, and spreads the length of Canal Street and a bit beyond in downtown Lemont.

“Due to the area we use, the Market is a little different each year,” Steele said. “We adjust to construction and neighboring business needs; not to mention the influx of new vendor applications we get.”

She said that they bring back favorite booths, but also add new artists and vintage vendors.

“We intentionally keep it a smaller market which we believe makes an enjoyable day for shoppers and sellers,” Steele added.

For this year’s market, there are about 20 new vendors, she said.

“It’s a really well curated show with a little of everything instead of a lot of one thing,” Steele said. Vendors will be selling a variety of goods, from fresh flowers, homemade dog treats, antiques, jewelry and more.

Steele said there will also be new food trucks at the market, and Lemont restaurants inside the market will also offer special, grab-and-go menus. Wally’s Waffles, Pollyanna Brewing Co., The Koffiebar, House of Garlic, Mrs. Sterba’s Kitchen and others will be at the market.

“Most exciting, for the first time this year, downtown Lemont is sponsoring a free community yoga class during Market on Canal,” Steele said. Local instructor Nicole Schneider will lead the outdoor class at 9 a.m. on the Village Green, 323 Main St. Guests should bring their own yoga mats.

“We love including the whole downtown community in this day, so the more ways we can celebrate everything downtown Lemont has to offer, the better,” Steele said. Stores, restaurants and shops throughout downtown Lemont will be open during the market.

It is $5 to enter the market, and you can pay online or at the door. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
