WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — An Italian market located on the iconic Arthur Avenue in the Bronx’s Little Italy is opening its second outpost in Washington Heights.

Pace’s Italian Market is opening in the coming days at 4131 Broadway, between West 174th and 175th streets, a store employee confirmed to Patch.

It is a relatively new business as it opened in the Bronx during the pandemic, but it has quickly garnered a variety of positive feedback.

The Italian market has nine Google Reviews, every one of them is five stars.

“Wow wow wow!! Wonderful family-owned Italian specialty market,” Shae Washington, a local guide wrote. “They let you sample cheeses before buying. So many of the products make me feel like I’m back in Italy.”

A different reviewer added, “My favorite store in the neighborhood. The quality of the products is outstanding and the prices remain surprisingly honest. This is topped by the kindness and courtesy offered by the owners who treat every customer like a family member.”

Pace’s Italian Market was also described glowingly in an article in February 2022 by Luxe Life NYC titled, “Spending A Perfect Sunday on Arthur Avenue.”

“A newcomer to the neighborhood, Pace’s Italian Market, is a true cheese heaven that blew me away the minute I set foot inside,” the author wrote. “Rumor has it that some people spend hours in Pace’s sampling the goods, and anyone working here including owner Angelo Pace is happy to make recommendations. This place has cheeses not sold anywhere else so if you are a real cheese adventurer, let someone behind the counter pick out a surprise for you.”

Patch could not find a full menu for Pace’s Italian Market, but the store did confirm it offers more than 100 types of cheeses.

The store also offers meats, sauce, fruits, jams, vinegar, olive oil, snacks, and more, according to its social media posts.

Pace’s Italian Market #2 is replacing Green Yard Cafe, which served customers from the Washington Heights storefront starting in 2019, according to Google Maps imagery.
