Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, SCO Angers president Saïd Chabane has admitted that it will be difficult to keep Azzedine Ounahi (22) and Sofiane Boufal (29) at the club.

Angers are currently rock-bottom of Ligue 1, and sacked manager Gérald Baticle just before the World Cup. They have currently conceded more goals than any other Ligue 1 club, and only Auxerre and Ajaccio have conceded fewer.

In that context, Chabane understands that it will be difficult to keep Boufal and Ounahi, both of whom have stood out at the World Cup in Qatar. The two players have played pivotal roles in guiding Morocco to the semi-final of the tournament, beating Spain and Portugal in the process. They are the first African team to get this far in the competition.

Asked about the future of the duo, Chabane said it would be difficult to keep them. “We are ready for everything. We have had a meeting with the coach and the sporting coordinator to consider all the possible scenarios,” he said. He went on to admit, “You know that we can never keep a player that wants to leave.”

L’Équipe are reporting that Ounahi in particular is attracting high-profile interest from Barcelona. The La Liga side could be tempted to make a move for the player in the January transfer window.
