Manchester United face Villarreal on Wednesday evening in the Europa League final at the Gdansk Arena in a meeting of two sides with contrasting experience.

The Yellow Submarine have never featured in a continental showpiece, while the Red Devils won this competition four years ago and have also been European champions on three occasions.

With that in mind, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are clear favourites to triumph in Poland and claim what would be their first piece of silverware since 2017.

Villarreal vs Manchester United Latest Odds

Unai Emery has an exceptional record in this competition, having won it three times, but his team are priced at 15/4 (4.75) to win in 90 minutes and at 2/1 (3.00) to lift the trophy with bet365.

United, meanwhile, are offered at 4/5 (1.80) to win without extra time and at 2/5 (1.40) to be crowned champions.

Villarreal vs Manchester United Team News

United captain Harry Maguire faces a late fitness test but does not look likely to play a part along with injured pair Anthony Martial and Phil Jones.

Villarreal vs Manchester United Preview

Villarreal are understandably big underdogs against one of the giants of world football, yet Emery’s team will be far from an easy prospect for United.

The Valencia-based side have an extremely strong scoring record, netting in 23 of their last 25 matches in all competitions, and in Gerard Moreno they boast one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe.

Man United have also been strong in the final third, scoring in 18 of their most recent 19 matches, while in the Europa League they have scored in every game they have played apart from the second leg of their clash with Real Sociedad where they already had a 4-0 aggregate lead.

Europa League finals tend to be open affairs, with the last six finals producing a total of 24 goals, and backing another entertaining encounter looks like a smart move.
