WWE Smackdown Live star Jeff Hardy recently participated in a media conference call and below are some call highlights via The Whig.
On why he no longer uses the Swanton Bomb at WWE live events:
“I’m 40 now and I’ve been pretty banged up lately,” he said, noting that the full-time schedule with WWE can take a toll physically. “Four nights a week is a lot of matches — I mean they add up. And doing that Swanton [Bomb, his finisher] every night is just rough. I’ve actually cut that out of a lot of events and I’ve just been using the Twist of Fate as a finish and it’s helped my lower back out a lot. I pretty much now save the Swanton for television unless I’m feeling really good at a live event.”
On his current injury status:
“I’m a little beat up, but my back is a lot better than it was a few weeks ago,” Hardy admitted. Other parts hurt though: “I’ve been having this issue with my elbow, like a nerve issue, and my hand was asleep for probably seven weeks and it’s finally woken. But overall, I mean, I’m 40 years old, I feel pretty good to be wrestling the way I am today in 2018.”
On the WWE 24 documentary and his recent DUI arrest:
“It was tough,” he admitted, his tone changing. “Talking about all that stuff was hard. It just sucked. I was really nervous before I watched, but after watching it, I was like, ‘Wow, that was honest, and open, and raw, and I was really pleased with the outcome of it all.’ But … I’m not going to lie, it was tough and I’ll be starting my community service this week for my recent arrest. But everything’s over, I’ve just got to make everything right now, and I’m underway and that was my first and last DUI.”
