It may be called the Halftime show, but Jennifer Lopez doesn't do anything half way — which is why she has two manicures planned for Super Bowl Sunday.

Ahead of Sunday's performance, Lopez's go-to nail artist Tom Bachik spoke to Allure about how he designed the night's multiple nail looks.

"We didn't know until this afternoon which nails we were going to go with, he says. "The good news is, we decided to go with both."

Lopez will perform in an all-Versace ensemble with "a couple of wardrobe changes," says Bachik. He had to design a nail look that fit the overall vibe, so they settled on an abstract design.

During the show, she'll be wearing clear nails with a line of silver foiling down the center and surrounded by Swarovski crystals "just to give it that sparkle." The crystals give the mani a shattered glass look, which Bachik then broke up with white pinstripes.

Bachik applies the nails about 30 minutes before showtime. "She'll get pretty much hair and makeup ready, almost ready to dress, and then we'll put the nails on right before she gets dressed," he says. "That way she's got her hands free until the last minute."

After the show, Bachik will be back on duty to swap out Lopez's nails before the after party, a process that takes about an hour. For this celebratory manicure, he created a Versace set similar to the instantly-iconic look she wore on New Year's Eve.

"I tried to pull together the elements that I see in Versace and then translate that into 10 little bitty canvases," he explains.

Bachik has worked with Lopez for years, and he's prepped her before awards shows, tour appearances, and film shoots — but there was something extra special about the Super Bowl, he says.

"The Super Bowl has so much electricity and excitement around it, and I think anytime you put music and sports together, it doesn't get any bigger than that."

For those of us who consider nail art a sport (raises hand), Lopez has already won the big game.
