Bayern Munich has officially announced the signing of Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso for a fee of €41.5m plus €6m in possible bonuses.

The 22-year-old joins the German champions on a five-year-deal until 2022 and leaves Lyon after 5 years at the club, coming through the youth system.

Tolisso impressed once again this season, playing in 31 Ligue 1 games as Lyon finished the season 4th and reached the semi finals of the Europa League, scoring 14 goals in the process.

He becomes the fifth Bayern Munich signing of the summer, following Hoffenheim duo Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy as well as the permanent signing of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen.

“I had a wonderful time with Olympique Lyonnais, for which I am very grateful. Now, I am looking forward to playing at one of the biggest and best clubs in Europe,” said Tolisso.

“I have set myself high goals with Bayern, which is why today is a great day for me.”

Sporting Director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also said, “We are very happy that we were able to win this young and highly talented youngster despite Bayern’s strong competition from abroad. Corentin Tolisso was the dream player of our chef Carlo Ancelotti for the midfield.”
