ELWOOD — As many Joliet Patch readers are aware, one of the most treacherous thoroughfares in the entire area is south of Joliet, near the Centerpoint Intermodal Center at Interstate 55 and Arsenal Road. Thousands of semitrailers from all over the United States are coming and going during the week, delivering or getting their freight. This month, Elwood’s Police Department saw something unexpected along Arsenal Road: a 24-year-old man from either Park Forest or Matteson was driving his car more than 100 mph, according to his criminal complaint.
Devion Cochran is accused of driving so fast the Will County prosecutors chose to dismiss the speeding ticket issued against Cochran, that way, they filed criminal charges of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer as well as aggravated speeding against him.
Elwood Police Commander Marc Reid, a retired member of the Joliet Police Department’s command staff, filed the complaint against Cochran. The criminal complaint listed Cochran as living in Matteson, while the speeding ticket he was issued earlier this month had him living in Park Forest.
