Reliable outlet Live Team ASM have produced a piece on 21-year-old goalkeeper Loïc Badiashile future.

Considered by fans and pundits as an exceptional prospect, the man between the sticks left Monaco on the final day of the January window for fellow Ligue 1 club Rennes.

His departure was met by fan anger, but the Frenchman left the club after a discussion with manager Leonardo Jardim – the Portuguese technician informed the shot-stopper that despite his best efforts in training, the three-man hierarchy would remain the same & he would stay 3rd behind Diego Benaglio and Danijel Subasic.

Badiashile did not initially intend to join Rennes, but it was the only club that met Monaco’s offer conditions. The goalkeeper wanted playing time, and had to make the choice: stay as 3rd choice at ASM or try to play for Rennes. He rolled the dice and moved to Brittany.

Despite not playing for SRFC at all since his January arrival, Julien Stéphan’s club want the goalkeeper to sign permanently. There is an option to buy included in the deal, but it is believed to be seriously elevated and so Rennes may look to re-negotiate.

From the player’s point of view, Badiashile still intends to fight for a place at the club that he turned professional in.
