LOS ANGELES, CA — A man died after being pepper-sprayed during an argument on a Koreatown Metro bus, and authorities are looking for his killer.

The argument and pepper-spraying happened at the intersection of Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard at 10:49 p.m. Thursday, and the suspect fled the scene by the time Los Angeles Police officers arrived.

“When officers arrived they discovered a deceased individual who appeared to have been involved in a physical altercation prior to his passing,” according to a statement issued by the LAPD. “However, the exact manner and cause of death remain uncertain pending the completion of an autopsy and thorough investigation.”

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. The name of the 63-year-old man was being withheld, pending notification of his next of kin. It was not immediately known if the man had any preexisting condition that made him more susceptible to being harmed by the chemical spray.

“The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide detectives are currently overseeing this case and are seeking to speak with the other individual involved in the altercation,” according to the LAPD.

This individual is described as a man in his 30s, wearing black attire and rainbow-colored shoes.

Video surveillance showed police on the bus gathering evidence from the altercation. No description was released of the suspect, who police said was in his 30s wearing black clothing and rainbow-colored shoes. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
