SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — NY Waterway wants to remind people they offer free shuttles, picking up riders in Sayreville, Parlin and South Amboy and taking them to the ferry dock at 100 Radford Ferry Road in South Amboy.

NY Waterway launched their South Amboy ferry service into Manhattan in October. Customers on the first day of service said they “loved it:” read this review of how the first day of service went.

The South Amboy ferry only runs Monday – Friday for now; it still does not run on weekends. The free shuttles pick people up weekday mornings and evenings at major roads and residential complexes in Sayreville, and at the South Amboy train station. “We want to make sure that those who take the trip to Manhattan know that they can take advantage of the free ride to and from the ferry landing,” said NY Waterway CEO Armand Pohan.

South Amboy ferry fares to NYC are one-way adult: $18, one-way senior: $17, 10-trip: $165, 40-trip: $600 and monthly $588.

For comparison, a 40-trip ticket from nearby Belford into NYC by Seastreak is $720.

The trip from South Amboy to Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan is just under 50 minutes. The boat then makes a second stop at West 39th Street in Midtown.

Right now, there is no weekend service; boats run on weekdays only, Monday-Friday. Ferries leave during the morning and evening commute hours. Ferries do not run at midday.

If you want to drive and park at the ferry dock, there is free parking at the ferry lot at 100 Radford Ferry Road; the lot is unpaved and you have to walk down a dirt road to get to the ferry.
