FORKED RIVER, NJ — After 40 years spent working on cars, Forked River’s “Jerzey Jim” Farrell got to show off his skills to the world as a competitor on NBC’s new “Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge.”

His iconic Dodge Charger (which also holds a special meaning to him) won over the judges and in his appearance in the show’s premiere, he came away with a $25,000 prize.

But that’s not all. Now, Farrell has the chance to appear in the finale airing Aug. 1 and the opportunity to win another $50,000 – and see his beloved Charger made into a real life Hot Wheels die-cast car.

The show is hosted by car aficionado Rutledge Wood and each episode invites two competitors into the Chrome Zone to transform an ordinary vehicle into an extraordinary Hot Wheels showstopper, inspired by personal stories and pop culture touchstones.

The first part of the two-part finale, airing Tuesday, will see the show’s judges selecting which of the eight finalists will take the three final spots.

Then, those three will be assigned classic Hot Wheels cars at random, and transform them into something new.

It’s possible that longtime car enthusiast Farrell could be one of those three.

“It’s the ride of my life,” Farrell previously told Patch. Read more: Forked River Man Highlighted On New NBC Car Show
