HUNTINGTON, NY — The Suds Boss, a Huntington-based mobile vehicle detailing service, is celebrating three years.

Thomas Pinto, owner of the service, travels Long Island to offer interior and exterior detailing; paint enhancers and corrections; ceramic coatings; and interior steam cleanings. He sometimes can’t believe it’s been three years.

“I fast-forward three years later, and look back, and I’m like, ‘Did I really just work this entire time to build this whole thing up?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah,'” Pinto told Patch. “It’s still going. It’s growing every year. This year is definitely my biggest year so far. Just because the name is out there, the number’s out there, the reputation is out there, the new services are out there.”

Pinto recently began offering a subscription-based mobile car wash service for customers who want more cars done at a better rate. Appointments can be booked through The Suds Boss website or Instagram page.

Pinto said meeting new customers “who become family” is his favorite part of the job.

“A lot of my customers, we all became very close,” he said.

Pinto said he and some customers go to car shows together and have a good time. It’s that customer loyalty that gives way to the biggest challenge Pinto faces on a routine basis.

“Biggest challenge, I would say, is trying to coordinate everybody all at once,” he said. “But it’s a good question. There are a lot of challenges in business. Trying to get all your VIP customers in at the same day, or just being on top of everything.”

Pinto wanted to share a message with his customers:

“I love each and every one of them. Without them, I couldn’t be where I’m at today,” he said.

Pinto worked in real estate and was a part-time bus driver before the coronavirus lockdown. When the bus company he worked for shut down, and Pinto realized he was not enjoying real estate as much as he thought he would, he shifted his full attention to detailing vehicles.
