FAIRFIELD, CT — Pam Iacono, who spent the past 10 years on the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting, has resigned her position representing District 8 to join the administration of First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick. Her resignation from the RTM is effective immediately.
In her resignation letter to Town Clerk Betsy Browne, Iacono, a Republican, said she “will be supporting the office in a part-time capacity.” She is helping while Chief of Staff Jackie Bertolone is on maternity leave.
“Serving the Town has been an incredibly rewarding journey,” Iacono wrote. “I have worked with a lot of amazing people throughout my tenure, and I am eagerly looking forward to serving the Town in this new role, embracing this fresh chapter of dedication and commitment.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the public and have always considered it a great honor to be elected by residents of Fairfield.”
While on the RTM, Iacono served a stint as Moderator, and most recently was Minority Leader.

She has a B.A. in Labor and Industrial Relations from Penn State, and is a past Chair of the Fairfield Board of Education.
Overall, Iacono has served for 15 years in elected office in Fairfield, and was also a member of the recent Charter Revision Commission.
In a statement to Patch, Kupchick explained why she wanted Iacono in her Administration.
“I have known and worked with Pam Iacono from back when I served on the Board of Education and through her work on the RTM,” Kupchick said. “I approached Pam to ask if she’d be interested in bringing her extensive public service and town knowledge to Town Hall to assist with constituent service and work as a liaison with the town boards, especially with the RTM the board she served on for 10 years and is very familiar with.”
According to Browne, the remaining RTM members from District 8 — Hank Ference, Cameron Choniski and Jim Meyers, all of whom are Republicans — will meet in the near future and vote on Iacono’s replacement. That individual must be from the same party.
“I’m sure I’ll be hearing from them to notice the meeting sometime after Memorial Day,” Browne said.
