ROH owner Tony Khan has announced that new Tag Team title belts will be unveiled at Friday's Supercard of Honor pay-per-view.
In an interview with Battleground Podcast released Wednesday, Khan stated that new belts will debut on Friday's show in the Reach for the Sky ladder match to crown new ROH Tag Team Champions.
"There will be new belts, we've retired the old design… I'm very, very excited for this pay-per-view on Friday, and one of the major reasons is the Reach for the Sky tag team ladder match paying tribute to the late, great Jay Briscoe."
Jay and brother Mark Briscoe were the ROH Tag Team Champions when Jay tragically passed away in a car crash on January 17 of this year.
Khan said that Mark Briscoe was instrumental in the decision to crown new Tag Team Champions, and that the ladder match was a way to pay tribute to both Briscoe brothers.
"Mark Briscoe thought [the ladder match] was a great idea, and that was important to me too. Having his opinion and having his buy-in to this made all the difference in the world.”
Khan also announced in the interview that the Honor Club streaming service has hit 15,000 subscribers, up from 10,000 when he last announced subscription numbers at the post-Revolution media scrum on March 5.
"We have more subscribers than ever before for Ring of Honor streaming, which is amazing. We've just re-launched the service [Honor Club] from scratch, and we've already reached about 15,000 subscribers for Ring of Honor right now, just for the TV, which is amazing."
ROH Supercard of Honor airs Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern time on pay-per-view, with a Zero Hour pre-show set for 6 p.m. Eastern.
