With a view to reinforcing the centre of midfield, FC Nantes are looking to Lyon’s Jeff Reine-Adélaïde (24) as a potential transfer target, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
The former Arsenal man has appeared in Les Gones’ starting 11 only once this season, after spending the first half of last season injured with his second anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 24-year-old, who had injured the other knee two years before, had been considering an early retirement.
Les Canaris sit in 15th after a mediocre season in Ligue 1, but they remain in the Europa League after a second place finish in Group G. Recruiting the Frenchman could see his game time increase in the Loire region, and the prospect of European football next month may help to convince him. Lyon, semi-finalists in the Champions League during the 2019/20 season, did not qualify for European football last season after a disappointing eighth-place finish.
FC Nantes travel to Reine-Adélaïde’s Lyon this evening in Ligue 1, where it is uncertain whether he will feature.
