ULSTER WERE UNABLE to overturn a nine point half-time deficit as they suffered defeat to Scarlets in the Guinness Pro12 this afternoon.

It was a stuttering performance from Neil Doak’s side and they ultimately paid the penalty for a slow start which saw them surrender the lead after just two minutes and they were always chasing the game from there.

Rory Scholes’ try after the interval reduced the deficit but the hosts, who led 9-0 at the break thanks to three Dan Jones penalties, had already pulled away through a Hadleigh Parkes try.
