Vince and Shane McMahon lead the entire Smackdown roster in a moment of silence for the lives taken in Las Vegas earlier this week.
– In-Ring Segment –
Renee Young is already in the ring to kick off the show. She introduces us to Shinsuke Nakamura, who makes his full entrance and receives an incredible reaction and series of chants from the Denver crowd. Renee asks him about the controversial statements made by WWE Champion Jinder Mahal in recent weeks, but Nakamura gives the old “sticks and stones” mantra, saying that the greatest fear is the fear of the unknown.
The Singh brothers make their way to the ramp laughing at The Artist and making fun of his poses and taunts. They introduce the champion as his music hits, but Jinder came out of nowhere and blasted Nakamura with the title from behind. The three teamed up and put the boots to this weekend’s challenger, before Mahal leveled him with the Khallas.
NATALYA & CARMELLA vs. CHARLOTTE & BECKY LYNCH
The action was already underway as we came back from a commercial break. The women’s champion was in total control of Becky, keeping her isolated as Carmella distracted the referee every time she came close to making the hot tag. After several minutes of taunting and disrespect Charlotte finally got in the match and fired off with a series of chops to Natalya, followed by a big back suplex. All hell broke loose as Carmella and Becky brawled to the floor. Charlotte connected with a huge spear but wouldn’t stop going after the champion and the referee was forced to back her off. Carmella blasted Lynch with her Money in the Bank briefcase on the outside, and when Flair went to check on her partner she got caught in the Sharpshooter.
Winners: Natalya & Carmella
We get a lengthy video package chronicling the entire history between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon, the attack on Vince McMahon two weeks ago, and all the drama leading up to this weekend’s Hell in a Cell match. This package was seriously like five minutes long.
