Unfortunately, New Japan Pro Wrestling has officially announced that Rey Mysterio will not be appearing or competing at this Sunday’s big Strong Style Evolved event in Long Beach, California.
We reported last week that Mysterio has suffered a partially torn biceps while wrestling for independent promotion Northeast Wrestling Event. He’s expected to be out of action for at least the next month and will likely miss all his WrestleMania weekend bookings. This weekend’s event sold out in a matter of minutes to fans from all around the world with nothing officially confirmed, and was built almost entirely on the names of Kenny Omega and Rey Mysterio.
The iconic Jushin Thunder Legend was scheduled to face Rey at Strong Style Evolved, but will instead be taking on a huge last-minute replacement… IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.
