UPDATE: According to Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com, Brock Lesnar re-entered the USADA testing pool on July 3rd, and will be eligible to fight on January 8, 2019 if he remains in compliance with anti-doping regulations.

After the breaking news of Brock Lesnar’s UFC return over the weekend, it has been made official that The Beast will be facing Daniel Cormier in The Octagon as UFC President Dana White confirmed the fight will be next for Cormier.

As for when the fight will take place, it’s worth noting Lesnar still has six months left on his USADA suspension stemming from failed drug tests related to his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt, reports MMAFighting.com Between the suspension and his re-entering the USADA drug testing pool, Lesnar will not be allowed to fight until January of 2019 at the very earliest.

With regards to Lesnar’s WWE status, Dana White noted there will be no issues with Lesnar fighting as far as WWE goes, as Lesnar “keeps Vince McMahon in the know” when it comes to working outside of WWE. Because Lesnar cannot actually fight in UFC until next year, he remains free to defend his WWE Universal Title whenever he needs to in the coming months.

In another interesting development, Daniel Cormier, who is a big WWE fan, said he would be open to appearing on WWE TV in order to help promote the fight once an official fight date is announced.
