Goldberg’s iconic dream match versus The Undertaker is over and WWE fans cannot stop talking about it. The problem is, everyone’s talking for all the wrong reasons due to what happened during that match at Super ShowDown.

Goldberg came down to the ring with the trademark cut on his forehead from head-butting the door of his dressing room. It’s a prematch ritual that he’s used for years to hype himself up for the battle ahead. But this time out, his expression was not that of an intensely focused veteran. It seemed as though he wasn’t in the moment.

The match began fairly quickly, which is another Goldberg trademark. The WWE Hall of Famer hit his signature Spear twice on The Deadman, but did not get the three count.

But it’s what happened next that caused the match to immediately spiral out of control. Goldberg went for another Spear on Taker in the corner. However, The Phenom moved at the last moment and Goldberg hit the ring-post full force, smashing his head open.

Undertaker then Chokeslammed Goldberg and picked him up for his own signature move, the Tombstone Piledriver. But instead of Goldberg’s head staying above the mat, he slammed down into the canvas. It’s at this point that many WWE fans likely believed the match was nearly over.

But the two men kept going, trading blows in the middle of the ring. Goldberg hit Taker with a third Spear and then went for his Jackhammer finishing move. But Goldberg’s legs wobbled and he did not get The Deadman all the way over, actually putting the top of Taker’s head into the mat. Goldberg then picked Taker up in what appeared to be a Tombstone, but once again his legs buckled.

Taker got up and hit a second Chokeslam to finally finish the match. Undertaker’s expression spoke volumes about this match and fans around the world knew that this was obviously not what WWE, or the two men in the ring, had planned.

As of this writing, neither Goldberg or Undertaker’s physical condition has been revealed by WWE. It’s entirely possible that both men have concussions and perhaps even worse, especially on Goldberg’s part. There’s likely much more to come regarding the events of this match and Pro Westling will provide updates as they happen.
