As noted, WWE Smackdown Live star Shinsuke Nakamura was pulled from his scheduled U.S. Title match against Jeff Hardy on Smackdown this week as The King of Strong Style was bitten by a police dog.

According to a new report by PWInsider.com, the incident actually took place on Monday of this week, as a police dog was brought to the arena in Bakersfield, CA, prior to the WWE Smackdown Live event, in order to do a routine security sweep of the building. At some point during the sweep, the dog approached Nakamura to sniff him, and then suddenly, and in an unprovoked manner, bit Nakamura on the leg.

As a medical precaution, Nakamura was kept off Monday’s live event, being replaced in the main event by Jeff Hardy defending his title in a Fatal Four Way match.

The report adds Nakamura’s leg was still feeling sore as of Tuesday night, so the decision was made to keep him off Smackdown Live this week in Ontario, Canada. As of this writing, Nakamura is scheduled to compete at WWE’s live events in Japan this week.

On Friday night, WWE has a live event at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan, and Nakamura is scheduled to be one of the main attractions of the event. On Sunday, July 1st, WWE has a live event at the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan, and Nakamura is also amongst the top talents listed for that event.
