After Hiroshi Tanahashi won the G1 Climax tournament for the third time in his career this week, speculation has been abound as to whether or not Tanahashi will put his IWGP Heavyweight Title shot on the line before January’s Tokyo Dome event.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer speculated that Hiroshi Tanahashi could be defending his title shot against Kazuchika Okada, based on comments made following G1. During an interview, Tanahashi indicated that he would defend his title shot against Okada as he said Okada deserves the shot, and the match could come at NJPW’s event in October at Sumo Hall.
