In an interesting turn of events, Bullet Club OG Tama Tanga took to Twitter this weekend to proclaim New Japan Pro Wrestling star “Switchblade” Jay White as the new leader of the faction.

This is a strange twist for many, as Tama and his fellow Bullet Club originals split off from Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes and the rest of The Elite earlier this year, rebuilding the long-running group in their own image. One of their biggest gripes about the old regime was that Bullet Club, in theory, should opeerate without one central leader, but rather as a united unit on equal ground.

White, originally a member of the CHAOS faction, defected to Bullet Club in September by leading a coup against Kazuchika Okada, taking the Rainmaker’s long-time best friend and manager Gedo with him across enemy lines. White is scheduled to face Okada in a huge co-main event match on Jan. 4th at Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Jay White is now the leader of #BulletClub …@JayWhiteNZ
