— According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s original plan was to have Nia Jax in the Elimination Chamber match but she was replaced by Mickie James.

— Meltzer speculated that the booking in the Asuka vs. Nia Jax match is going to be interesting as Asuka shouldn’t be ending her undefeated streak right now or against Jax but it is also not the right time to have Jax lose clean to Asuka either.

— As we noted yesterday, all of this seems to be building towards an Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair match for the Smackdown women’s title and Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax for the Raw women’s title.

— A possible situation that was discussed on the radio show that could lead to this would be for Bliss to cost Jax the Elimination Chamber match and for Asuka then to simply pick Charlotte as her opponent.

— We were told before by one person that the only reason WWE introduced the new concept of the Rumble winner getting to pick which title they want to wrestle for is for the Asuka/Charlotte match – as Shinsuke Nakamura already revealed that he wants to wrestle AJ Styles on the same brand. So unless plans have changed, that should still be the direction they are going.
