There is some unpleasantness on the part of the NWA after recent negotiations played out with highly-touted independent performer Willie Mack.
Following the news of Mack’s signing with Impact Wrestling, the reigning NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis, took to social media to post about the situation.
“If you ever wanted to see the evidence of scheming carny wrestling BS, look no further,” wrote Aldis. “Sorry Willie. They took advantage of you.”
Mack, a former NWA National Champion, was expected to work a full-time schedule with NWA going forward. Heading into the recent Crockett Cup event, the promotion received a “cease and desist” order from Lucha Underground stating that they did not have the right to book Mack, as contractually he was their talent.
Mack was able to come to terms, dropping the title to Colt Cabana, which was actually the reported plan all along.
After the Willie Mack / Impact Wrestling announcement was made, there was said to be a feeling within the NWA that they had invested time and effort into Mack, feeling responsible for him becoming a “hot thing” in the business, only to get iced out when all was said-and-done.
