Fresh off of defeating The Big Show in a steel cage match in the main event of last week’s episode of Raw, Braun Strowman is set to headline the show once again tonight. WWE announced today that tonight’s episode of Raw will be headlined by a match featuring “The Monster Among Men” taking on John Cena. This will be the first singles match between the two superstars ever. Cena’s No Mercy opponent, Roman Reigns, is set to do battle against Jason Jordan tonight as well. Braun Strowman is being built up as a viable contender to the Universal Championship for his match against Brock Lesnar at the upcoming No Mercy pay-per-view.
WWE’s annual Tribute to the Troops show is set to continue once again at the end of the year. Starting in 2003, the company put together the show for American troops stationed in Middle Eastern locations such as Iraq and Afghanistan. The spirit of the show lives on today, but they now broadcast the show from locations within the United States. PWInsider reports that the plan is to tape the show during the December 5th edition of Smackdown at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. WWE has yet to officially announce the return of the event, but the belief is that the show is definitely still going to be airing in December as usual.
With all of the months and months of tension between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens on Smackdown, it seems pretty apparent that the feud may lead to a match sometime soon. It has been reported that the match may be taking place at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. The Dirty Sheets now reports that Shane McMahon is wrestling on the show in order to boost ticket sales for the event. Vince McMahon believes that Shane’s involvement in making Wrestlemania 32 a success proves that he can be marketed as a special attraction when shows look dull on paper. Shane works exclusively as a performer at this point, and he is contractually obligated to wrestle at least two matches per year.
