For a while, the members of the NXT UK roster were able to compete for the brand while also still being allowed to accept bookings outside of WWE. However, as the brand began to come together and begin moving forward, WWE reportedly had several members of the roster sign deals that were said to be worth more money but also made them exclusive to the company. Some fans and wrestlers took issue with this development as they thought it would damage the thriving independent wrestling scene in the United Kingdom right now. There was some thought that a few indie promotions were still ‘greenlit,’ but the rules were never really made clear. However, a new update on the situation has just been provided.
Those who watch NXT UK may be interested in some of the talent contract details that have been outlined by the Wrestling Observer. According to the Observer, Pro Wrestling: EVE is one promotion that NXT UK has had issues with, and it caused Millie McKenzie and Charlie Morgan to leave the show towards the end of 2018. Meanwhile, Nina Samuels still competes for NXT UK despite being the champion of EVE. This could indicate that perhaps some sort of deal between the two sides has been worked out, but that has not officially been confirmed as of yet. In the past, NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne has defended the decision to make the members of NXT UK more exclusive as it serves as the pay off from their hard work on the indie scene.
During Raw this past Monday night, Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder of The Revival finally defeated Bobby Roode & Chad Gable to win the Raw Tag Team Championships. Ever since The Revival were put together, they have been on a mission to restore the classic tag team wrestling style of the old days to WWE. Naturally, now that they are the champions of the tag division, they’ve begun to push for the old school Tag Team Championship design to come back. Dash Wilder has been particularly vocal on the matter on social media ever since picking up the belts a couple of days ago. Perhaps The Revival will be able to revive the classic tag team titles that plenty of wrestling fans remember and still hope to see back on TV someday.
