SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team is set to begin the NSIC duals portion of its schedule when the Vikings take on Northern State on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
Augustana enters the NSIC dual season with a dual record of 5-2, including a 31-15 win over Northern State on Dec. 3 at the South Dakota Showcase in Spearfish, S.D. Clayton Wahlstrom leads the way for Augustana with 17 wins on the season, followed by Colin Ayers and Ben Kelvington with 13 apiece.
Last Time Out
Augustana competed in the Warrior-Viking Open in Fremont, Neb. this past weekend and had 11 wrestlers place, led by freshman Keaton Schorr (149-unattached) who took first. Regan Bye (165) and Daniel Bishop (184-unattached) each took second at their respective weight classes.
Other Viking placers included: Bruce Lemon Jr. (157-3rd), Ben Kelvington (165-3rd), Lukas Poloncic (174-3rd), Clayton Wahlstrom (197-3rd), Austin Ward (174-4th), Noah North (149-unattached-5th), Hunter Haman (174, 5th) and Luke Nohns (285-5th).

Scouting Northern State
The Wolves enter the dual against Augustana with a dual record of 1-3. Northern State’s lone dual win of the season came against Dakota Wesleyan at the South Dakota Showcase in Spearfish, S.D. on Dec. 3.
The Wolves are led this season by Kenny Jones and Blake Perryman. Jones is a redshirt freshman 133-pounds who’s 14-5 on the season with four pins and five tech falls. Perryman is a senior who is 11-2 at 165 pounds on the season with two pins and four tech falls.
Next Up
Augustana will have next week off before continuing its NSIC schedule with a home matchup against SMSU. The Vikings will take on the Mustangs on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
